Colour Sound Experiment supplied lighting and LED screen to a series of recent Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) concerts in the UK. Lighting designer Francis Clegg, part of creative visual design and programming collective Mirrad, produced a lighting design for the tour which followed on from summer festival work. A new live show concept was evolved for this, with production based on the Brixton Academy gig and adaptable to fit the other venues.
HSL provides lighting kit for Prodigy arena tour

Heliart owner Priit Kivimägi explains out how the relationship developed: “We had used another amplifier brand for a long time but had a chance to do a side-by-side comparison. Powersoft’s model range covered our needs better and it was easier to find a match for our EAW systems.”

Ljubljana City Theatre invests in Robe LEDWashes

Ljubljana City Theatre (Mestno gledališče ljubljansko - MGL - also known as Ljubljana Municipal Theatre) has invested in Robe's LEDWash range with the purchase of four LEDWash 600s and 9 x LEDWash 800s. Andrej Koleznik and his colleagues Bostjan Kos, Aljosa Vizlar and Bogdan Pirjevec make up the four strong lighting department. All were involved, together with technical director Joze Logar in the collective decision to purchase the new LEDWashes.

Die Arme der neuen Halter können auf die Größe des Tablets eingestellt werden und nehmen so Geräte mit einer Höhe von 220 bis 331 mm und einer Breite von 128 bis 232 mm auf. Die Tiefe der zu verwendenden Tablets kann dabei zwischen 5 und 11 mm variieren.

Broadway musical ‘Next to Normal’ was brought to Italy by STM (musical theatre school) in conjunction with the Compagnia della Rancia (Rancia musical theatre company). The musical made its debut as a preview on 7 March 2015 at the Teatro Coccia in Novara with a cast of professionals from the Compagnia della Rancia directed by Marco Iacomelli. The scenery was designed by Gabriele Moreschi, costumes by Carla Ricotti, choreographies by Gillian Bruce, and lighting by Valerio Tiberi.

Diplom-Ingenieur (FH) Jens Nonnewitz, der die Echo-Gewinner seit mehreren Jahren als Monitormischer begleitet, hatte das Flohmarktfundstück ballastiert, gedämmt und mit einer bühnentauglichen Befestigung versehen.

Am 12. und 13. September 2015 fand auf dem Flughafengelände Berlin Tempelhof die erste deutsche Ausgabe des weltweit erfolgreichen Lollapalooza-Festivals statt. Stageco wurde hierzu mit dem Bau von zwei 4-Tower-Bühnen mit extra breiten Brandingportalen und diversen Nebenbauten wie PA-Tower, Eingangsportalen und Dekobauwerken beauftragt. Dabei arbeiteten drei Headcrews mit 19 Mann und ca. 60 Helfern zeitversetzt in unterschiedlichen Schichten, um 600 Tonnen Bühnenmaterial zu verbauen.

Among the first live concerts to be staged in Paris after the November 13 terror attacks were three shows at the Accor Hotels Arena by Johnny Hallyday. French lighting designer Dimitri Vassiliu created a design that featured 36 x Robe BMFL Spot moving lights on the rig which were supplied by lighting contractor Dushow. For the Accor Hotels Arena performances, an additional 20 x BMFL Spots were added to the rig to light the audience.

Produced by Kulturtuben, four actors deliver political satire and critiques of topical issues backed by a 10-piece orchestra. Beim Ottawa Bluesfest, einem der zehn größten Festivals Nordamerikas, erlebten im Jahr 2015 rund 300.000 Besucher über 250 Acts. Die in Ottawa ansässige Rental-Company Wall Sound war für die Beschallung der Claridge Homes-Bühne zuständig, der zweitgrößten Bühne des Festivals. Dabei setzten die Soundspezialisten das neue X-Line Advance-Line-Array-System von Electro-Voice ein. Ein N8000-Systemkontroller verteilte das Audiosignal an TG7-Verstärker; das gesamte Beschallungssystem wurde mittels IRIS-Net-Software überwacht und gesteuert.

Die Duris S 5 Color, eine neue LED von Osram Opto Semiconductors mit einer Größe von 3 x 3 mm, ist in vier Farben erhältlich: in Rot, Amber, Grün und dem sogenannten „tiefen“ Blau. Alle vier LEDs basieren auf der gleichen Chip-Technologie und erzeugen gesättigte Farben über Phosphor-Konversion. Zudem zeigen sie das gleiche elektrische Verhalten und sind mit der Duris S 5 White kompatibel.

The New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) 2015 took place at the main show-space in the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre located in Auckland’s Waterfront area. Simon Garrett from Oceania Productions lit the show-space which is also known as ‘The Runway’ by NZFW fans. Garrett has been involved with the event for several years, but this was his first using 12 x of Robe’s BMFL Spots which were rigged on a spine truss above the 30 metre polished concrete presentation runway.

The fourth edition of the Radio Italia Live concert took place in Piazza Duomo in Milan. The general event production team, led by Gaetano Notaro, started taking its first steps in December 2014. Together with the publisher Mario Volanti, Notaro put the Lighting Designer & Director Giancarlo Toscani in charge of a significant portion of the event once again. The concert showcased both famous and less famous artists.

Elation Professional’s hybrid Platinum FLX moving head luminaire has won a Worship Facilities New Product Award in the Best Moving Light category at the 2015 WFX Show. The award, which recognizes the best new technology products for the church market, followed a PLASA Award for Innovation and a Best Debuting Product honorable mention at the LDI Awards, both held in October 2015. The Best Moving Light Award was chosen by the editors of Worship Facilities and Church Production magazines, the WFX Advisory Board, and WFX management.
