EM Acoustics provides sound system for 1Rebel Dubai

London’s boutique fitness company 1Rebel recently launched in the UAE, with the opening of its first Dubai branch located in ICD Brookfield, within the Dubai International Financial Centre area.

1Rebel required a first-rate level of AV production and technology. UAE-based distributor and integrator Levels AV was awarded the project during the design and project commercialisation phase, overseen by Turner & Townsend project management, whilst the interior design was taken care of by Allen Architecture Interior Design and APA London.

The installation required audio and lighting across a variety of specific workout zones - including the Ride room, the Reshape room, and the Open Gym area - plus changing rooms and a reception area. Each area required a bespoke audio solution. Over forty EM Acoustics loudspeakers and subwoofers were deployed to supply the soundtrack intrinsic to the workout experience across an area of 10,000 square feet.

In the Ride room, the nightclub-grade sound is provided by six EMS-81X loudspeakers plus S-15 and S48 subwoofers from EM Acoustics. Simplified touchscreen AV controls allow for easy access to the system for the trainer, with a triggering system that enables users to cue up and sequence integrated media, Light FX and soundtracks together.

Dedicated to high-intensity interval training, the Reshape room called for a powerful sound system with integrated control to create and maintain a high-intensity experience during classes. Levels AV opted for six EMS-81X loudspeakers and two S-12 subs to deliver the required sound. iPad stations were deployed allowing system control, via Pixilabs and Avolites.

Intended for personal sessions and individual training, the Open Gym area features overhead custom lighting, a continuation of the “nightclub” atmosphere. Levels AV deployed eight EMS-61 two-way loudspeakers in this area, ensuring even coverage across the gym floor.

The changing rooms are equipped with four compact EMS-41 loudspeakers fitted in both the male and female facilities. Background audio in the reception area is supplied by two compact EMS-51 loudspeakers.

Throughout 1Rebel Dubai, all sound and systems are controlled via Xilica, with Linea Research amplifiers driving the EM Acoustics loudspeakers and subwoofers. Muxlab solutions integrate media and content servers to the displays.
