Ayrton and Claypaky light up Estopa’s “25th Anniversary Tour”
After a successful tour across the United States and Latin America, Estopa is now bringing their “25th Anniversary Tour” to Spanish cities including Valencia, Sevilla, Madrid, and Bilbao. The tour features a lighting design by Juanjo Beloqui, supported by a selection of fixtures from Ayrton and Claypaky, including Claypaky’s 48 HY B-Eye K25 and 12 B-Eye K20 models, as well as sixty Eurus S LED Profiles and thirty Perseo Beam fixtures from Ayrton, all supplied by Fluge Audiovisuales and Stonex.
“We have invested significant effort into the programming to ensure that the various lighting fixtures work seamlessly together. Achieving a consistent quality across effects like movement, color changes, and intensity is crucial to maintain a cohesive visual experience throughout the show”, says Beloqui. “One of the main challenges of this tour has been balancing the LED video screens with the lighting to ensure neither element overshadows the other during the show’s key moments.”
“I use the B-Eyes as front lights to both illuminate and engage the audience, enhancing every effect and movement on stage”, he adds. “These fixtures were chosen for their wash light capabilities, which are essential for both highlighting the performers and supporting the camera work, as we always have a production team on the road.” On the other hand, the HY B-Eye K25s are used in the delay towers to illuminate the audience.
When asked about his choice of Ayrton’s Eurus and Perseo fixtures, Juanjo Beloqui states: “I wanted to design an all-LED setup and it was a good opportunity to get to know these fixtures up close. We chose these fixtures because of their versatility and intensity.” Beloqui used the Eurus S to create a grid above the stage with four trusses and complete ground rows, positioning themselves both in front of and behind the band, as well as on both sides of the stage, above and below the video screens. The Perseo Beam fixtures create side lights, in four lines of ten fixtures each side, “completing the top grid trusses like goalposts”, as Beloqui puts it.
“We have been very meticulous with the programming to ensure that there is almost no difference between the various fixtures”, he concludes. “Beyond the use of the Eurus in spot mode and the Perseos in beam mode in most of the cues, our focus is on seamless transitions and uniform performance across all devices.”
