Tascam updates Hi-Res Editor software

Tascam has released a new, updated version of its Hi-Res Editor software, which is a Windows and Mac DSD/WAV editing package. The software supports playback and export of DSD files without first converting them to PCM audio. This free software is available as a download for Windows and Mac computer systems and is a tool for users of the Tascam DA-3000SD Stereo Master Recorder.

This new version of the Tascam Hi-Res Editor is compatible with Apple silicon - at the request of Mac computer users, Tascam has implemented this change. Similarly, this new software version now supports notarization. Notarization is a feature for software that is distributed outside of the Mac App Store, such as the Tascam Hi-Res Editor being distributed through the official Tascam website. Notarization ensures compliance with MacOS security standards and meets certain security guidelines set forth by Apple - enabling the computer to recognize the software as safe. This also allows for installation to proceed without security warnings.

This new version of the Tascam Hi-Res Editor also supports Mono to L/R stereo conversion. Now, two mono files can be combined to create a stereo file. To accomplish this, the two mono files must share the same audio format, sampling frequency, and bit depth. Additionally, support for L/R stereo to mono split is now supported. With this new feature, one stereo file can be split into two individual mono files to create independent left and right channel audio.
