Heritage Audio announces availability of HA1200 TapeSat as native plug-in based on a tape recorder

Already available as a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) plug-in for any i73 Pro family products, Heritage Audio announces availability of HA1200 TapeSat as a native plug-in based on a tape recorder - modelled after an original 16-channel Ampex MM-1200 unit (Serial # 0232) owned by company CEO Peter Rodríguez, bought back when he was nineteen years old and still used as his main tape recorder to this day - to provide the true analogue sound of tape, allowing anyone to add punch, warmth, and depth to their vocals, synths, guitars, and more.

After Rodríguez discovered how good a professional reel-to-reel recorder actually sounded, there was no turning back; for his own recordings finally sounded like many of his favourite albums from previous decades. Analogue tape provides smoothing results to any sound that is recorded onto it, and HA1200 TapeSat produces the presence, glue effect, and low-end punch that is characteristic of genuine tape.

There are five self-explanatory (virtual) knobs - Input, Speed, Tape (selector), Level, and Output - to HA1200 TapeSat’s notable name. The Tape knob allows users to choose from five different choices modelled after various NOS (New Old Stock) tapes, namely: 250 (for a musical and warm saturation), 456 (for an enhanced transient articulation), 499 (for a clear and more natural tone), 911 (for a highlighted high end and boosted bass), and GP9 (for a sharper midrange).

Heritage Audio’s goal with this native plug-in is to create a tool to channel creativity and put the focus firmly back on music production, which is exactly why the vintage-sounding recording equipment developer wants to reach as many users as possible by applying a special pricing scheme. The native version of the HA1200 TapeSat plug-in is available for free to owners of any i73 Pro family products - offering varying I/O and features as the first ever USB-C audio interfaces with built-in Class A 73-style preamps - by being automatically added to their plug-in collection. For everyone else, a price of 99.00 EUR/99.00 USD is guaranteed.

The native version of HA1200 TapeSat is available to purchase - as a 64-bit AAX-, AU-, and VST3-format-compatible effect plug-in for MacOS (10.15.7 and higher, with both Intel and Native Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3/M4s compatibility) and Windows (10 and 11) - directly from Heritage Audio at https://users.heritageaudio.com/product/ha-1200-tape-saturator/. An iLok account is required for HA1200 TapeSat activation.
